LeBron James is likely to return to the Los Angeles Lakers next season, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Despite the team’s first-round playoff exit to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Charania reported on the Pat McAfee Show that James is expected to opt into his player option.
James holds a player option worth between $54-57 million for the upcoming season. His decision deadline is June 29, giving him approximately a month to finalize his choice. Currently in the second year of a two-year, $101,355,998 contract, James’ cap hit for the 2025-26 season is just over $52.6 million, according to Spotrac.
