Knicks Karl-Anthony Towns Game 5 Status Uncertain After Knee Injury in Game 4 Loss to Pacers

New York Knicks star Karl-Anthony Towns faces an uncertain status for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals after sustaining a knee injury in Game 4. During the Knicks’ 130-121 loss to the Indiana Pacers, Towns banged his knee twice, including a significant collision with Pacers forward Aaron Nesmith in the fourth quarter. Towns immediately grabbed his knee and remained on the court in visible pain.

Despite the injury, Towns managed to re-enter the game and finish, though he was noticeably hobbled. Post-game, Towns declined to discuss the injury, focusing instead on the team’s loss. Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau expressed optimism, noting that it was positive Towns could return to the game. Thibodeau confirmed that Towns will undergo evaluation before Game 5.

The potential loss of Towns would be a significant blow to the Knicks, who trail the series 3-1. Towns has been a crucial player, averaging 25.8 points and 11.5 rebounds throughout the series, including a standout performance in Game 3. In Game 4, he contributed 24 points and 12 rebounds despite the injury.

Even if Towns plays in Game 5, the Knicks may face challenges from Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton, who had a historic triple-double in Game 4. Haliburton has been one of the few players to match Towns statistically, averaging 24.3 points and 11 rebounds in the series. His performance could further impact the Knicks if Towns is unable to play.
