Charles Barkley Urges NBA to Allow John Haliburton to Attend Pacers Games After Suspension

Charles Barkley Advocates for John Haliburton’s Return to NBA Games After Suspension

Charles Barkley has called for John Haliburton, father of Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, to be allowed to attend Games 3 and 4 of the Eastern Conference finals in Indianapolis. John has been absent from Pacers games since his on-court confrontation with Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo during the first round of the playoffs.

Barkley made the plea on TNT following the Pacers’ overtime win against the New York Knicks in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. He argued that John has sufficiently served his punishment for the incident, which occurred after Tyrese hit a game-winning shot against the Bucks. John sprinted onto the court to taunt Antetokounmpo, leading to an emotional exchange between the two.

Tyrese publicly criticized his father’s actions, and Antetokounmpo discussed his belief in humility in victory. John issued an apology the next day, and a team spokesperson announced he would not attend games “for the foreseeable future.” The specifics of this arrangement, including whether it was a team, league ban, or a voluntary step back, remain unclear.

John has missed all subsequent Pacers games, including their series with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Game 1 against the Knicks. It is yet to be determined whether NBA commissioner Adam Silver or the Pacers will heed Barkley’s request. The series will move to Indianapolis for Games 3 and 4 after Game 2 on Friday.
