Timberwolves-Thunder: Anthony Edwards Fined $50K for Dropping F-Bomb After Game 1 Loss, Raising Season Tally Past $400K
The NBA announced a $50,000 fine for Anthony Edwards after he used profane language during his postgame news conference following the Minnesota Timberwolves’ loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals. Edwards’ comment, which included an f-bomb while discussing his 18-point performance and 13 shot attempts, was aired live on ESPN.
This marks Edwards’ second fine of the postseason and brings his total fines for the season to $420,000. Many of his fines stem from using profane language in media settings. Notably, his previous fine was for directing obscene language and gestures toward a fan during a first-round game against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Throughout the season, Edwards has accumulated fines for various infractions, including flipping off officials, criticizing referees, and using profane language in media interactions. Despite the substantial fines, Edwards, who is under a five-year, $244 million contract and has numerous sponsorships, appears unfazed by the financial penalties.
